Working Principle:

The MP38870DL-LF-Z is a synchronous Buck DC/DC switching regulator module with a high-precision, fully adjustable output voltage, ultra-high efficiency and ultra-low noise operation. This regulator module is designed with a synchronous rectification control technique in order to enhance the power conversion efficiency and reduce the output voltage ripple. The output voltage is controlled by an internal temperature-compensated voltage reference (TCVR) which ensures a very precise output voltage stability over a wide operating temperature range.

The input voltage is sensed by a high-accuracy analog circuit and the resulting current is passed through a high-speed low-ESR MOSFET switch, which is turned on/off by a pulse width modulation (PWM) signal. This PWM signal is generated by a phase-locked loop (PLL) control circuit based on the feedback voltage from the output. When the output voltage falls below the set point, the PLL will increase the duty cycle, resulting in higher output current, and conversely, when the output voltage exceeds the set point, the PLL will decrease the duty cycle, resulting in lower output current.
