MP3900DK-LF-Z is a DC-DC switching controller which falls under the category of voltage regulators, and is specifically under the PMIC (Power Management Integrated Circuits) classification. The MP3900DK-LF-Z DC-DC switching controller is based on a Pulse Frequency Modulation (PFM) control scheme. Its concept is to feedback the output voltage and use two comparators to regulate the output voltage. In the steady state, the controller intermittently controls the switching of the power transistor, whose power switch is based on the PFM control requirements.

When the Vin and Vout determine the active condition, the compare voltage is less than the modulated voltage. Therefore, the control signal is high, the power switch is turned off, and the inductance will be discharged to the load, so that the output voltage can be adjusted. When the Vin and Vout determine the inactive condition, the compare voltage is greater than the modulated voltage, so the control signal is low, and the power switch is turned on, and the inductance will be charged, so as to maintain the required output voltage.

The MP3900DK-LF-Z further features an advanced shutdown mode for low current consumption, and a built-in 40V MOSFET for higher efficiency and better power conversion.
