The MP3910AGS is a dual-phase, step-down DC-DC switching controller designed to provide reliable and efficient power delivery to systems that are powered by multiple power supply sources. This switching controller is capable of delivering up to 37 A of regulated output current through two independent output channels. The MP3910AGS is designed to be integrated into multi-phase, non-isolated power delivery systems that require power conversion from a wide (5 V to 24 V) input voltage at up to 10 A. This switching controller is capable of operating in either a synchronous buck (3x) mode or a dual-phase buck (2x) mode, with a choice of either 12 V or 24 V (VCCI) output rails.

The MP3910AGS is designed to meet the stringent thermal, efficiency and output voltage ripple requirements of reducing power consumption, while delivering high current and efficient power conversion. This switching controller can be used to step down single, multi-phase and power factor corrected (PFC) power supply sources to converge on multiple output rails, such as a +12V main power rail, a +3.3V rail and a +1.8V rail. The MP3910AGS can be used in systems requiring high current output, such as servers, motherboards, graphic cards, set-top boxes and routers.

The MP3910AGS is designed to provide improved output voltage accuracy and ultra-low current ripple (peak-to-peak) for both the VCCI and output voltage rails. This is achieved by incorporating a state-of-the-art PID closed loop control architecture that is capable of dynamically adjusting the output voltage of the converter based on the demand of the system. The converter’s output voltage is further improved by a built-in adaptive current limit functionality that is designed to maximize the efficiency of the converter at any given load.

The MP3910AGS switching controller integrates a low-ripple current-mode control circuit with a power FET driver to provide smooth, stable and long-term regulation during transient and continuous load operations. This switching controller also contains several integrated device level protection functions such as over current protection, over temperature protection and short circuit protection. In addition, the MP3910AGS is capable of providing a software-programmable soft start feature, which is effective in preventing voltage surges during the startup of the system.

The MP3910AGS is supplied in a low profile, thermally enhanced 4x4 QFN package and is compatible with both S-RGB and S-RGB-MIPI control protocols. The device is RoHS compliant and has an operating temperature range of -40°C to +85°C. This switching controller is ideal for a wide range of power management applications requiring efficient, reliable and long-term regulation.
