MP6910AGS is a Power Management Integrated Circuit (PMIC), specifically a power supply controller, monitor and Booster/Charger. It provides numerous integrated power functions such as precise power supply sequencing and sequencing tracking for accurate power supply sequencing and sequencing control, over-charge and over-discharge protection to ensure battery safety, regulation of current flow from battery to prevent overloading, and high-efficiency boost and buck voltage regulation.

Application Field

MP6910AGS is designed for lithium-ion battery powered portable applications such as mobile phones, handheld games and_ MP3 players. It integrates two input voltage routes, providing two-cell Li-ion battery system such as, 3.3V, 4.2V, and 5V supply control and adjustable power, with up to 8A peak power output. It is built on a CMOS process with microelectronic augmentation and includes hardware and software features, enabling low power consumption and power conservation features.

Working Principle

MP6910AGS’s internal functions are based on its two power supplies, a battery and system voltage, which it uses to determine how to control the output and the charging of the battery.The MP6910AGS first gets its power from a battery, then sets a voltage threshold to ensure that the system does not draw more than its share from that battery. When the system voltage is greater than the threshold, the MP6910AGS uses that voltage as the default setting for the output voltage.When the battery voltage drops below the threshold, the MP6910AGS initiates a boost or buck to balance the voltage. The power management IC operates in one of three power-saving states-Normal, Low-Power, and Snooze-to ensure superior power conservation. MP6910AGS also includes two independent packages,a booster and a charger, which allow the user to set specific thresholds and high-power levels so that the power needed is always available. This makes it possible to maximize power saving, while ensuring durability and safety of the battery.MP6910AGS also features over-charge and over-discharge protection, allowing it to mitigate risks associated with overcharging, over discharging and overheating common in lithium batteries, ensuring safe operation and system stability. In addition,MP6910AGS also provides current flow control and tracking, which prevents overloading of the system and safer charging for the battery.
