The MP6922AGN is a member of Power Management Integrated Circuit (PMIC) family as part of the Power Supply Controllers, Monitors. Working Principle
The MP6922AGN is based on the Buck Converter topology which comprises of two stages; initial regulation and current regulation. This voltage is then regulated by the internal MOSFET which is connected to the ‘Vout’ pin. The output voltage is then fed to other parts of the circuit like the output devices. At this stage, the MP6922AGN is capable of providing overvoltage and undervoltage protection as well as overcurrent protection.
In the current regulation stage, a sense resistor is connected to the ‘Sense’ pin of the MP6922AGN. This sense resistor is used to monitor the current flowing through the voltage source. The signal corresponding to the current is then sent back to the MP6922AGN which utilizes this signal to accurately control the output current. This stage provides the necessary protection against overcurrent malfunctions.
In addition, the MP6922AGN also has two other pins for controlling the status of the output current. The first is ‘P/S’, which is used to select either the low power or high power mode. The second is ‘PWRGD’, which is used to indicate whether the power is supplied correctly or not. If the voltage is not correctly supplied then the pin will be pulled low, indicating an overvoltage condition.
