MP6924GS application field and working principle

The MP6924GS is a high-efficiency, step-down converter dedicated to powering ASICs, DSPs, microprocessors and other power hungry components in a small form factor by efficiently converting a wide input voltage range into a regulated output voltage. The switching frequency of the IC is adjustable up to 1MHz, which in turn reduces the size of the external passive components. The IC is optimized to reduce the switching losses, thereby limiting the maximum possible power dissipation.

The device supports a wide range of input voltage from 0.8V to 5.5V. It also supports a wide range of output voltages from 0.7V to 3.6V. The MP6924GS supports programmable switching frequencies up to 1MHz, enabling the user to optimize the solution for various applications. The device includes an integrated boot-strap diode, eliminating the need for an external diode and saving board space.

The MP6924GS includes a VCC pin to monitor the input voltage and an internal under-voltage Lock Out (UVLO) circuit to protect against sudden drops in input voltage.
