MPC9608FA is a family of low power clock generators, phase-locked loop frequency synthesizers, and integrated components. The MPC9608FA family is based on a low-power version of a proven frequency synthesizer, the EZ-PLL®. This circuit-level combination of voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO) and integer-N divider provides a wide range of output frequencies with superior jitter performance over traditional PLLs.

The output clocks are typically generated from a low frequency reference oscillator such as a crystal oscillator. The reference oscillator feeds into the EZ-PLL circuit, where it is compared to the feedback clock from the Fractional-N divider. Then the VCO\'s output is matched to the reference oscillator to create the output clock of the desired frequency. The EZ-PLL® core\'s control voltage loop then adjusts the VCO\'s frequency without relying on an external charge pump.

The MPC9608FA family also includes a family of Synthesized Clock Generators, which use an Analog Multiplier Cell (AMC) to generate a wide range of frequencies from a reference oscillator. These clock generators are ideal for generating a slew of output frequencies, with fine steps and no external components. The AMC is composed of discrete components and can be used to generate high-precision frequencies and lower jitter, while also providing immunity to external disturbances.
