MSMCJ110A Application Field and Working Principle
MSMCJ110A is a series of Surface-Mount Multi-layer Transient Voltage Suppressor (TVS) Diodes, designed to protect electrical systems such as I/O ports, data lines, and smart devices from voltage transients induced by electrostatic discharge (ESD), inductive switching, and lightning. Working Principle
In normal operation, the device behaves as a diode and does not affect the electrical circuit. When a transient voltage appears, the MSMCJ110A’s body diode is forward biased and clamps the transient voltage, limiting its maximum voltage. As the transient voltage increases, however, the junction voltage increases, causing the current to increase exponentially. The peak surge current of the MSMCJ110A is limited by an internal current limit element. The device can handle up to 1.2 A, which is more than enough for most applications.
