The MSMCGLCE100A TVS - Diodes consists of a silicon avalanche diode and a bi-directional ESD protection circuit which works in parallel with the line it is designed to protect. This particular device is designed to protect 5 lines from transients caused by Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) events-and is capable of suppressing up to a maximum of 100V. It is a very robust device specifically designed to protect high-speed communications and computer lines, such as Universal Serial Bus (USB) 2.0, IEEE 1394, InfiniBand™ and Serial ATA (SATA).

The ESD protection circuit is comprised of two MOSFETs with very low R_ds, or drain-source resistance. This ensures that low power is dissipated, thus allowing a very fast response time to ESD transients, and making it suitable for high-speed data lines. The MOSFETs are connected back-to-back in the circuit and they form a bi-directional ESD protection design. The ESD protection circuit is designed to prevent excessive current flow when very short, high-voltage pulses are applied to the line it is designed to protect. The MOSFETs work together to suppress these voltage pulses, allowing it to safely pass the ESD event or transient without any degradation of the signal or connected electronic equipment.

The MSMCGLCE100A is versatile device, as it can protect 5 lines simultaneously from ESD events. The lines can be used for either data transmission or for providing power. The device has a very low capacitance and is suitable for data rates up to 500MegaHertz (500MHz). It also has an industry leading low-clamp voltage, which helps keep the voltage at the load stable, even during high ESD events.

In addition to being suitable for high-speed data lines, the MSMCGLCE100A is designed for a range of applications. It is suitable for use in automotive, industrial, consumer and telecom applications. It can also be used in applications such as point-of-sale terminals, printers, Xbox™, QR code readers and smart phones.

The MSMCGLCE100A is easy to implement and can be surface mounted onto circuit boards for protection against ESD events. It is also RoHS compliant and features overvoltage protection, which prevents damage in the event of overvoltage spikes or faults.
