The MTZJT-7236B (also known as Jansky–Matthews diode) is a specialized silicon junction diode that is oftentimes used in electric circuits as clamping diodes, stabilizers and voltage regulators. The ‘MTZJT’ represents the manufacturer and product series, and ‘7236B’ indicates constructions, it’s part of the diodes and transistors family, and falls within the diode type known as Zener single.

This device is a two-terminal component whose primary function is to manage back current and to protect sensitive electronic components from dangerous voltages, specifically in situations where power to the circuit is lost. This diode features an anode and a cathode, with a small reverse voltage that can achieve a number of tasks in electric circuits, among them creating more precise electronic signals, regulating voltage levels and generally provides a lot of the smoothing and cleaning up necessary for circuits to work properly.
