The MUR460-M3/54 is a single rectifier diode, also known as an ultra-fast high-power rectifier diode. This device has a peak current of four hundred sixty amps and a maximum forward voltage of fifty four volts. The diode has a low Forward Voltage (VF) of 0.290 volts. The device is designed for use in switching and rectifier operations in most high-power rectifier applications.The MUR460-M3/54 is constructed from a pair of semiconductor layers that form a P-type and an N-type doped layer. When the P-type layer is connected to the positive side of a voltage source and the N-type layer is connected to the negative side, then the diode conducts current in one direction only. The diode acts as a one-way valve, allowing electric current to pass in one direction and blocking it in the other. This enables the device to act as a rectifier, converting alternating current (AC) to direct current (DC).The MUR460-M3/54 diode has a low leakage current and a high forward surge current which allows it to handle inrush currents and surges caused by device switching.
