The MV036F030M040-CB is an Evaluation Boards – DC/DC & AC/DC (Off-Line) SMPS. The boards is a convenient product for evaluating the performance or characteristics of a DC/DC Switch Mode Power Supply (SMPS) design featuring the MC34063A motor control IC & B85102A circuit protection devices. The board is designed to evaluate the basic operating of the MC34063 in a continuous mode and with protection against overloads.Application Field

The board works on a Switch Mode Power Supply (SMPS) principle, wherein the MC34063A IC regulates the input AC supply voltage and converts it into a stable regulated DC voltage output (5 or 12V). The board includes two protection circuits (powered by the B85102A circuit protection devices) that monitor the input power supply voltage and the output DC load current to prevent over-voltage, over-current, and short-circuit conditions, and ensure the stability of the DC output voltage.The basic circuitry of the MV036F030M040-CB board consists of an input power supply section (including a power transformer), a full-wave bridge rectifier, a filter capacitor, an output power supply section (including two output voltage regulators), and an overload protection circuit. The MC34063A controls the switching frequency and duty cycle of the output power supply section (typically 64kHz for the 5V output and 189kHz for the 12V outputs). The operating frequency of the output power supply section can be adjusted by changing the values of the external components connected to the MC34063A.The overload protection circuit is powered by the B85102A circuit protection device and provides an additional level of safety. It uses a fuse to protect the MC34063A and the output power supply section against over-current and short-circuit conditions. The overload protection circuit monitors the input AC supply voltage and the output DC load current and closes the circuit in case of excessive current flow.The board includes fixed input (AC) and output (DC) terminals, a pair of test points (one for each output voltage regulator), and two LEDs (one for each output voltage regulator). The test points allow the user to monitor the output voltage and current of the power supply which helps in troubleshooting and verifying the output parameters of the power supply.
