The MX1N8151 is one of the most widely used Transient Voltage Suppressor (TVS) diodes, specially designed for the protection of components from transient voltages. As the avalanche current passes through the diode, a voltage drop is created across it, which limits the amount of voltage that can be passed through the diode, thus protecting it from damage.
