PMIC (Power Management Integrated Circuit) was designed to manage the power supply and distribution in electronic devices. In particular, Supervisors have the capability to monitor circuit conditions and system operations for protecting hardware components from several types of electrical stress and damage. The MXD1818UR23+T PMIC Supervisor by MCD is an over voltage monitoring supervisor IC that ensures the stable operations and durable life of power management system in various applications.The MXD1818UR23+T is a microcontroller compatible, one-time programmable supervisor IC with OVP (Over Voltage Protection) feature. It is equipped with integrated initialization circuit. When power is applied, the reset signal will be triggered and the MCU will be ready to boot up. This device is also capable of monitoring power supply and system status, detecting fault conditions and signaling to MCU to take corrective actions.The MXD1818UR23+T is suitable for applications requiring over voltage protection such as home theatre systems, microprocessor power supply, communication equipments, car interface and industrial control systems. Its wide-operating voltage range makes it suitable for a variety of applications.The MXD1818UR23+T working principle involves monitoring the input voltage with an integrated voltage monitor circuit. The voltage monitor compares the voltage levels with pre-programmable thresholds such as VDD, VH and VC levels. If the measured voltage exceeds one of threshold levels, the voltage monitor circuit will immediately generate the reset signal. The reset signal will reset the reset output, alarm output and alarm delay output, which is then sent to the MCU for proper operations.This PMIC Supervisor IC has the capability to be programmed for up to three separate VDD, VH and VC voltage levels for monitoring operations. When the maximum voltage is reached, the IC will automatically triggers reset signal for preventing further harm and damage. The integrated initialization circuit also allows the reactivation of power up reset if the voltage is below the pre-programmable threshold.The MXD1818UR23+T offers wide-operating temperature range with fast response time. It consumes very little current and has less than 350ns of propagation delay. The MXD1818UR23+T will activate reset signals when the voltage values reaches the global or individual limits. When the over voltage or under voltage conditions are no longer detected, reset signals will be cleared automatically.The MXD1818UR23+T is packaged in SOIC-8 package that is suitable for high-temperature reflow soldering process and is RoHS compliant. The thin, small profile of the MXD1818UR23+T makes it suitable for space-constrained applications. The low EMI/RFI noise immunity and lower operating current makes it suitable for higher performance applications with reduced noise and good power reliability.In summary, the MXD1818UR23+T is an ideal over voltage protection supervisor IC for various applications such as home theatre systems, microprocessor power supply, communication equipments, car interface and industrial control systems.
