The device contains an array of diodes connected in a specific pattern, called a Zener Barrier. When the voltage reaches above a certain threshold, the Zener Barrier is activated and the diode starts to conduct. </p> <p>The Zener Barrier then rapidly conducts the transient current, which will then be safely dissipated as heat, protecting the circuitry or components behind it. The MXLCE14A is also designed to withstand multiple transient events with a high degree of protection.</p> <p>The rapid response is key, as it prevents the components behind it from being damaged or destroyed from the transient.
