MXLCE9.0AE3 is a unidirectional, bidirectional, or tri-directional transient voltage suppressor diode (TVS-Diode). It is designed to protect terminals and networking equipment from ESD events, EFT events and other overvoltage transients.

The MXLCE9.0AE3 is a diode type transient voltage suppressor which offers superior protection against destructive overvoltage transients. This device is capable of providing surge current handling capabilities of up to 15.5A in pulse width and 30A in peak pulse condition.

The MXLCE9.0AE3 consists of a high-efficiency Silicon Junction Diode connected in parallel to a Silicon Oxide Capacitor. This combination of components provides excellent transient protection in both the switch-on and switch-off states.

The working principle of the MXLCE9.0AE3 is that it detects an overvoltage transient, then clamps the voltage to a predefined level. This process is accomplished by connecting a diode in parallel to a capacitance. When an overvoltage transient is detected, the capacitance is discharged first, and the voltage across the diode is clamped to a level which is below the allowable maximum rating of the Equipment.

The MXLCE9.0AE3 also provides protection against ESD and EFT events. During an ESD event, the diode is reverse-biased, allowing current to flow in the opposite direction. This current is then discharged through the device, providing protection against ESD and EFT events.

In addition, the MXLCE9.0AE3 provides protection against power surges and overcurrent conditions. This is accomplished by connecting a limiting resistor in series with the diode. When power surges or overcurrent occur, the current is limited by the resistor.
