A TVS (transient voltage suppressors) diode is an electronic device that there to protect other electronic components from over-voltage transients or surges. The MXP6KE10CA is a unidirectional TVS diode used to protect sensitive circuitry from voltage transients caused by inductive switching, lightning strikes, and electrostatic discharges. This is an avalanche breakdown and a current starts to flow dependant on the reverse breakdown voltage of the diode. This reduces the voltage to a safe level and the excess energy is dissipated as heat.
