The NCP1071P100G is a member of ON Semiconductor’s high-performance, monolithic Current-Mode PWM controllers. This device is designed to provide a tightly regulated regulation of an external N-channel MOSFET half-bridge. Applications include medium- and high-power offline switchmode power converter. In addition, the NCP1071P100G is capable of providing a very accurate measured current limit, making it an ideal solution for isolated high density power supplies, offline converters with high power factor corrections, and isolated ac – dc off-line systems.

The NCP1071P100G device utilizes a proprietary algorithm to achieve an extended Measurement Rate Accuracy level. The algorithm is a closed loop, which continuously monitors output voltage and compensates by changing the pulse width of the MOSFET driver. Output voltage is maintained and the external MOSFET is protected when the load is shorter than the programmed current limit. During over-current conditions, the wide frequency range of the device ensures that it does not run too far behind the load. The device also heuristically fuses the current limit for additional safety.
