NCP1653APG Application Field and Working Principle
Power Factor Correction (PFC) refers to techniques used in electrical power systems to raise the power factor of an AC power system closer to 1 or unity. In power control systems, power factor correction is important because it reduces the harmonic content of the line current and improves the efficiency of the system. It also offers an easy solution for line-dimming and improved EMC performance. Furthermore, its flexible protection architecture includes programmable fault counter, open-loop detection, over voltage protection, and brown-out modes.The NCP1653APG utilizes a high-frequency oscillator module to control the switching frequency in constant-frequency mode. This oscillator can be set to a user-selectable fixed frequency or can be sensed from the power line for a frequency transient mode. It also implements adaptive non-overlap control to minimize switching losses and EMI emissions.To summarize, the NCP1653APG is a high-performance power factor controller designed to efficiently convert AC power into DC power with minimal design effort.
