Introduction to NCP133AMX105TCGThe NCP133AMX105TCG is a series of medium current linear voltage regulators (PMIC- Voltage Regulators- Linear). It is a medium-voltage monolithic integrated voltage regulator circuit, designed in Bipolar technology. It’s main application field is in power supplies, battery chargers and other electronic circuits, where a medium current and voltage regulation is needed. The NCP133AMX105TCG series operates over an extended temperature range of -40°C to +85°C. It consists of an input, a feedback, and an output voltage. The circuit features with low dropout voltage, high precision and fast transient response. The P-Channel MOSFET is used for load current sinking. The high,med and low current is determined by external resistor. Working Principle of NCP133AMX105TCGWhen operating, the NCP133AMX105TCG takes a reference voltage indicative of the output voltage from the reference pin (pin1). The voltage on the reference pin (pin1) is then compared with a voltage, derived from a differential amplifier, that is indicative of the output voltage. The error signal is used to control the internal P-Channel MOSFET until the voltage on the output pin (pins 7 and 6) is equal to the reference voltage. The NCP133AMX105TCG series has two working models: Pulse Frequency Modulation (PFM) and Pulse duration Modulation (PDM). In the PFM mode, the NCP133AMX105TCG modulates the duty cycle and the switching frequency, according to the requested load. The frequency is increased for light load, and decreased for heavier load. In the PDM mode, the NCP133AMX105TCG modulates the duty cycle and keeps a constant switching frequency. PDM mode is known to induce a lower output noise levels than PFM mode, because the switching frequency is kept constant.
