Working Principle
When the VDD voltage is applied to the input capacitor, the comparator output of NCP301LSN20T1 goes to Logic 0, thus causing the output to reset. The device also generates a reset output when the voltage at the reset input (RESETIN) is more than 0.7 V. When the voltage at the reset input goes higher than 0.7 V, the microprocessor will start executing its code. The reset output is issued until the voltage at VDD reaches the reset threshold voltage.
The device also provides an adjustable reset timeout period. When the reset signal is de-asserted (Logic 0), a monostable timer is triggered which generates a signal for a predetermined period (typically 10 ms to 250 ms). If the voltage at VDD does not reach the reset threshold voltage within a specified period of time, then the output goes to logic 0, again resets the microprocessor.
The built-in power-on reset pin (PON) ensures reliable operation over the wide range of temperatures and varying supply voltage conditions. This pin is active while the input voltage is lower than the reference voltage. It responds to the separate supply voltage and issues a reset signal when it is applied. In addition, the IC features adjustable reset assertion levels, selectable active-high/low reset signals, and it has a very small package that simplifies board layout.
NCP301LSN20T1 provides superior accuracy in reset and monitoring levels, making it an ideal solution for power on reset, power-off reset, and active low-voltage detection in various applications.
