NCP3065D1SLDGEVB is an evaluation board designed for LED drivers applications and reference boards. This evaluation board is designed by ON Semiconductor. It is designed to test and evaluate the lighting system performance and capabilities of their family of NCP30xx current mode, and constant on-time high-efficiency PWM controllers. The NCP3065D1SLDGEVB evaluation board provides a comprehensive and easy to use solution for the development, testing and evaluation of low power high-efficiency PWM power stages and systems.
The NCP3065D1SLDGEVB evaluation board features a complete set of features and functions for an LED driver such as: an adjustable switch-mode power supply, an ON/OFF switch, a 2x8 DIP switch for function configuration, a single-stage flyback control circuit and a 4-level dimming circuit, heat sink and heat spreader, a 5VDC input voltage, and a thermal shutdown circuit. The board can be used as a reference board in the design and implementation of custom LED driver circuits. It is essential to observe caution when installing, repairing, testing and modifying the board due to the risk of short circuits, fire and unexpected electric shocks.
The performance and current limiting are controlled by the on-board NCP30xx driver, which also supplies the programmable dead-time control and the cycle-by-cycle current limiting capability. The input voltage can be adjusted from 3V to 5V through the 4-level DIP switch, and the switching frequency can be set from 100kHz to 500kHz. The board is capable of delivering LED currents up to 1.25A when loaded with the active heat sink and up to 2.5A without the active heat sink in place. The thermal shutdown circuit helps to protect the device from excessive temperatures. The low-voltage shutdown feature ensures that the board is supplied with a voltage below the minimum working voltage of the device and in turn this helps to reduce the power dissipation.
The evaluation board is pre-configured to operate at 500kHz with a maximum LED current of 2.5A.
