Working Principle of NCP392CSFCCT1G
At the heart of the NCP392CSFCCT1G is ON Semiconductor’s innovative process technology. This process enables the device to deliver a high degree of accuracy over the full temperature range. The device employs a linear voltage regulator topology, which monitors the input voltage and regulates the output voltage to a precise value as close as possible to the reference voltage set by the user. The output voltage is adjusted by varying the duty cycle of a control switch, which is connected between the input and output voltage. When the input voltage is higher than the output voltage, the switch is closed and current is passed through the device allowing it to regulate the output voltage. When the input voltage is lower than the output voltage, the switch is opened, preventing current flow.
In addition to the linear regulator topology, the NCP392CSFCCT1G also features a wide range of protection features including Thermal Shutdown and Under-Voltage lockout. These features are designed to protect the device from over-temperature and voltage transients. The Over-Voltage protection is designed to detect an over-voltage condition on the input and shutdown the device.
