NCP6131NS52MNR2G is a high-voltage FET-type regulator integrated circuit designed to provide a single output voltage bias rail for 1A of continuous load current. Working Principle
NCP6131NS52MNR2G is a voltage regulator integrated circuit which relies on a FET for voltage regulation. It uses an internal charge pump to generate a high side gate drive voltage for the switching FET. To keep the output voltage stable, the device operates in a voltage mode. A feedback pin is present to close the loop between the output voltage and the regulation loading. The output voltage reference is given to the device internally so the connected load to the output will be regulated to accuracy within +/-10mV.
To monitor device temperature a thermal shut down is included in the IC. When the die temperature rises above the device\'s thermal limit, the thermal protection shuts down the IC and the output voltage will go to zero. After few milliseconds the IC will reset itself when the die temperature reaches below the thermal limit.
In addition to the wide operating temperature range and low quiescent current, NCP6131NS52MNR2G includes some extra features such as soft start and output over voltage protection. Soft start prevents the output voltage from going to a high value during the first power-up stage. The output over voltage protection limits the voltage delivered to the load when the input voltage is too high to prevent damage to the connected devices.
