The NCV6324BMTAATBG from ON Semiconductor is a monolithic integrated circuit developed for DC-DC step-down converters in switch mode voltage regulator applications. It is a single stage buck converter for automotive power train applications. Its simplified control topology combined with an advanced control architecture produces a solution that reduces component count and bill of materials, resulting in a solution with space savings and cost savings.The NCV6324BMTAATBG can be used in a variety of automotive powertrain applications, including automotive battery chargers and power converters. It can also be used in a range of other components, such as LED lighting, robotics, and general purpose power management applications. It features wide input operating voltage range of 6V to 60V and adjustable output voltage range of 0.75V to 43V (adjustable). It also features wide load port voltage range of 6V to 45V and can support up to 3A of output current.The NCV6324BMTAATBG has been designed for reliable operation and provides a safe output voltage that can be adjusted easily. It supports a wide range of applications from battery chargers to automotive power converters. It has over-current protection, under-voltage protection, overtemperature protection and output over-voltage protection. It also has built-in thermal loop control mechanism and a self-shorting gate driver.The NCV6324BMTAATBG features synchronous rectification design, reducing power dissipation and improving efficiency. It is compatible with all the ON Semiconductor motor control evaluation kits including MSCCCBK-SPOT, MSCCCBK-FC, MSCVCCBK-FC, and MSCVCCBK-SPOT. It is also configurable over a powerful graphical user interface (GUI) and allows for complex sensor control via the I2C interface. It is also equipped with a power fail Detect (PFD) output signal for an external supervisor.The NCV6324BMTAATBG voltage regulator works by allowing the user to set an adjustable reference voltage for the input voltage sources. The user adjusts the reference voltage until the desired output voltage is achieved. The regulator then compares the input voltage to the reference voltage, and uses a feedback loop to ensure that the output voltage stays constant and within pre-defined limits.The NCV6324BMTAATBG also features a feature called soft-start, which is used to reduce in-rush current at power up by slowly ramping up the output voltage.
