The NCV612SQ18T1G is a high-performance fixed output low-dropoutvoltage regulator (LDO) which is classified as a Linear Voltage Regulator within the Power Management Integrated Circuit (PMIC). It features ultra-low dropout voltage and high power dissipation at high loads.

The working principle of the NCV612SQ18T1G is based on the principle of linear regulation. A single reference voltage is applied to the output of the linear regulator and the Load Current is adjusted according to the changes in input voltage and load current. The output reference of the NCV612SQ18T1G is set to 2.8V-5V and is adjustable through two external resistors.
The current flow in the NCV612SQ18T1G is controlled by the main impedance, which is inversely proportional to the difference between the input voltage and the reference voltage. The main impedance is controlled by the gate of the PWDTransistor which is driven by Error Amplifier. If the input voltage is greater than the reference voltage, the Error Amplifier will close the gate and reduce the main impedance, thereby reducing the load current. On the other hand, if the input voltage is lower than the reference, the Error Amplifier will open the gate and increase the main impedance, thereby increasing the load current.

It has an adjustable output current limit, over-temperature protection, maximum duty cycle, reverse voltage protection, and more.
