The NCV8718AMTADJTBG is a linear voltage regulator designed and manufactured by ON Semiconductor. The device is protected against overload and short circuit with an over-current limitation function. The over-current limitation function will stop the output when the output current is higher than the set limitation. In case of an overload or short-circuit condition, the device can detect it and will shut down the output and restart automatically once the signal returns to its normal level.
The device also features integrated protection circuitry against over-voltage (OVP) and over-temperature (OTP) conditions. If output voltage is higher than the preset level due to any external perturbation, the OVP circuit limits the output voltage and protects the system. The Thermal Shut down (TSD) circuit limits the power dissipated due to the increase in ambient temperature. When the die temperature crosses the TSD level, the output voltage is shut down under the level of 175mV (max.) and will restart automatically once the temperature drops below the TSD level.
