PMIC - Hot Swap Controllers (NIS5102QP1HT1 application field and working principle) is a kind of power management and protection device, which enables safe power supply to sensitive systems. It limits the inrush current generated when the load is connected, and protects the circuit against overvoltage, overload, short-circuit and over-temperature. It also provides a low-impedance dynamic output discharge feature, which provides rapid discharge of the output voltage without the need for additional series resistors.

The device also incorporates an interrupt masking feature, which prevents the interrupts from being generated in response to spurious noise events or false triggering due to the input signal or low duty cycle signals. This prevents unnecessary system turn-off if a spurious signal is detected.

The device also features a cycle-by-cycle current-limit which ensures that in the event of an over-current condition, only that cycle is disconnected and the remaining portion of a cycle is still powered.
