The NX2305CSTR is a highly integrated DC-DC Switching Controller for applications such as telecom basestations, data centers, and industrial systems.

The NX2305CSTR features a synchronous PWM controller which can regulate voltage very efficiently by using either buck or synchronous buck converter topologies. It also includes an internal power FET, current sense amplifier, digital soft-start, and adjustable loop compensation for a complete regulator solution. The NX2305CSTR also provides overcurrent protection, undervoltage protection, and thermal shutdown protection.

Working Principle

The NX2305CSTR features a synchronous rectifier PWM controller, which can regulate output voltage using either buck or synchronous buck converter topologies. The synchronous rectifier feature eliminates the need for an external Schottky diode and contributes to high-efficiency operation. Additionally, the digital soft-start includes an adjustable soft-start ramp rate. This feature helps to reduce inrush current by gradually increasing the output voltage, thus reducing current and stress on the VIN supply.

The NX2305CSTR also offers adjustable overcurrent protection and undervoltage protection. In addition, the IC’s thermal shutdown protection monitors the die temperature through the junction-to-ambient thermal resistance. If the junction temperature exceeds a predefined temperature, the thermal shutdown circuit will turn off the power output.
