Working principle

The board contains an LCD display, 2 tactile buttons, several LEDs, a reset switch, a potentiometer, one analog port (ADC14), two areconfigurable ports (CAPTIVATE and RETENTION), two SPI ports, three UART ports, and a USB port.The MSP430F5438A microcontroller used in the OM11039 board supports the CAPTIVATE© 4-bit parallel capture system and the RETENTION power management of the Microcontroller. CAPTIVATE© is an analog capture technology which allows direct real time sampling of one or more analog channels without needing an A/D converter, by using a 4-bit parallel transfer to the onboard SRAM store. RETENTION is a power-management feature that is designed to save energy in applications that require short cycle periods for duration, such as automotive applications.
