P3406UCLTP is a kind of TVS (Thyristor) product manufactured and launched by STMicroelectronics. It is mainly designed for the functional purpose of protection of the high-speed data lines from ESD (electrostatic discharge) and other surge events. When the potential voltage exceeds the specified breakover voltage, the thyristor can be turned on, so the voltage reaches the clamping voltage of the TVS. When it reaches a certain level, a large amount of current will be transmitted to the incident voltage source and the load will have the purpose of discharging the static electricity from the high pressure and distributed, thus protecting the electronic equipment from damage.
The P3406UCLTP is particularly useful for applications in automotive, telecommunications, industrial and consumer electronics applications, due to its lower clamping voltage levels and stable avalanche characteristics. In addition, its incredibly fast response time (<1 nsec) helps reduce the risk of damaging components due to sudden transients. In automotive applications, the P3406UCLTP is commonly used in serial ports as well as for audio, charging and display protection.
