The instruction decoding unit converts the instruction into machine language, and sends it to the executive unit. The executive unit then executes the instruction and stores the result in the register file.The register file contains eight 8-bit registers and four 16-bit registers. The first eight are used for storing the results of calculations and other operations. The last four are used to store the IP (instruction pointer) and stack pointer values, and the status flags of the microprocessor.Finally, the microprocessor also contains a digital signal processor (DSP) unit, which is used for complex signal-processing operations.
