P6SMB58 is a unidirectional low-capacitance TVS diode of the P6SMB series. The main purpose of this device is to protect sensitive equipment from harmful electrical transients or voltage spikes. This series is specifically designed to provide protection from overvoltage events in systems that employ high speed data, such as USB, FireWire, IEEE 1394, and other high speed interfaces.The P6SMB58 is housed in an appropriate surface mount package that is suitable for use with automated production and processing machines. It has very low capacitance and high transient pulse energy rating, so it is capable of withstanding high circuit transient voltages without significantly degrading data rates or transmission quality.The P6SMB58 features an ultra-low capacitance of 0.53pF (±0.3pF) when measuring from each line to ground (common mode capacitance). This allows for a low insertion loss so that the data integrity will remain intact. It also has a capacitance range of 0.15 - 0.58pF (±0.05pF) when measuring from line-to-line (differential mode capacitance).The P6SMB58 also has a fast response time of less than 1ns, which is especially important for high speed signal data transmission systems, as it prevents damage to the protected circuitry resulting from high voltage transients. Furthermore, the device has an ultra low leakage current that is great for applications when leakage must be eliminated due to sensitive power supplies.The major application field of the P6SMB58 is in high speed data transmission systems.
