PACDN046MR is a transient voltage suppressor (TVS) diode designed to protect circuits against overvoltage transients caused by ESD (electrostatic discharge) and lightning. PACDN046MR is RoHS compliant and is compatible with green manufacturing techniques. The PACDN046MR provides an excellent clamping performance over the full voltage range and features a peak power rating of 500W and operating junction temperature of 125°C. The part provides fast response time (approximately 5 Nanosecond) and total series resistance of 0.022 Ω. This part also features low leakage current of 0.2uA at rated working voltage and surge capability up to three times the rated power dissipation at 10/1000 microseconds.Working Principle
The working principle of the PACDN046MR is simple. When the input voltage exceeds the rated voltage of the diode, the rated voltage will trigger the diode to switch from the off state to the on state, creating a circuit which will conduct excesive voltage into the ground. This will limit the peak value of the voltage transients, ensuring circuit components are not damaged by overvoltage. When the input voltage returns to a normal level, the diode will switch back to its original off state. The on resistance of the diode is very low, ensuring minimal impact on the normal circuit operation when the diode is in its off state.Conclusion
