Application Fields of PC357N4

The PC357N4 is most often used to provide electrical isolation of input signals in order to protect load circuitry from dangerous voltages coming from the source. Additionally, its photovoltaic output section can be used to measure power outputs and convert them to an analog output signal. Working Principle of PC357N4

The PC357N4 is a combination of a Transistor Output Optocoupler (PC325) and a Photovoltaic Output Section (PC336). The PC325 is a 4-pin optocoupler with a LED inside. The LED is driven by the input signal, and the Transistor Output optocoupler enables the input signal to be transmitted through an isolated path to the output circuit.

The PC336 is an integrated phototransistor optocoupler with a photovoltaic output section. Under the pulse drive of the PC325 LED, the photovoltaic section of the PC336 outputs a power output signal in form of a current. The output current of the PC336 is then fed into an external circuit to monitor the power output from the input signal.
