Triac and SCR are both components based on thyristors, semiconductor switching components that can store either an ON or an OFF state. Through a mechanism called zero cross switching, the Triac is able to switch the load depending on the direction of the input current. It is triggered to turn ON when the positive or negative half-wave of the applied AC signal is slightly higher than the trigger voltage. As for the SCR output, it can be used to provide additional output driver ability.
