The transmitting side has an LED assembly consisting of four gallium arsenide infrared (Ga-AI-IR) LEDs. The LEDs are covered by a lens and mounted on a circuit board. Voltage is applied to the LEDs, which then emit light. The light is received by the phototransistor on the receiving side. The phototransistor then turns the received light into current. The current then activates the Triac and SCR outputs on the receiving side, which trigger the application.
