PCA9515AP is an I2C-bus and SMBus solution. It is a medium- or low-voltage 8-bit input/output port with a buffer for both inputs and outputs, and a buffer for the output-enable signal. The PCA9515AP is suitable for applications requiring digital data I/O as well as addressable I/O. Its features include voltage levels as low as 1.2V (2.2V for external resistor value) and switching frequencies up to 1.8MHz.

Working Principle

The PCA9515AP is controlled and monitored via the I2C-bus. It offers up to eight input/output ports configurable by user-selectable port logic configuration, included inversion and shift levels, as well as programmable output drive strength. It also provides various buffering options, including both hysteresis and level shift, which can be enabled via options bits. It also features internal circuitry to reduce EMI and transient noise effects.
