The PCA9534D,118 is an interface and I/O Expander ideally suited for the development of remote I/O applications. This device is made up of two groups of discrete components, the PCA9534D and the 118 resistor bus. The PCA9534D contains a group of eight General Purpose Input/Output ports that are either off or connected to the 118 resistors. This device is also able to maintain a stable output voltage over a wide range of input voltage, eliminating the need for an external voltage regulator.
The PCA9534D,118 is a very versatile I/O Expander with a wide range of applications. It can be used in a variety of control systems, such as controlling alarms, lighting, fans, pumps and other household appliances. It can also be used as a router in wireless networks or as an interface between a computer and a micro-controller. It is capable of extending a serial bus over a greater distance than other I/O Expanders and is capable of accepting 8/16 bit data.
The working principle of the PCA9534D,118 is based on the principle of voltage ramps which convert the digital data into sequential voltages that are routed through the set of resistors connected to the PCA9534D.
