With the introduction of the PCM1754DBQG4, a new product is now available in the market that is specifically designed for data acquisition, Analog-to-Digital Conversion (ADC) or Digital-to-Analog Conversion (DAC) applications. The PCM1754DBQG4 is a 16-bit monolithic dual flash ADC and DAC integrated circuit with a high performance analog section, analog input circuitry, a wideband voltage reference and multiple data format options. It is designed to be used in a wide range of data acquisition and conversion applications.

The PCM1754DBQG4 provides exceptional resolution and accuracy in its respective data conversion functions. The ADC section offers extremely low noise performance, a low power consumption and the flexibility to be used for sigma-delta and multi-level weighted averaging (MLWA) architectures. The DACs offer a maximum throughput of 66 Mbps and a wide dynamic range with high linearity.

The PCM1754DBQG4 utilizes a high performance analog section coupled with a low jitter clock/data recovery/aligner circuit and an onboard voltage reference to provide a very low distortion and low noise operation. The analog section provides a wide frequency range that allows for operation from audio to video sampling rates. The PCM1754DBQG4 is equipped with several digital filtering and decimation functions such as digital notch filtering, anti-alias and decimation filters as well as a programmable microphone bias. The device also includes a phase-locked loop (PLL) and phase interpolator to provide phase-accurate clocking for a sigma-delta ADC or DAC.

The PCM1754DBQG4 operates in two modes, asynchronous or synchronous. In asynchronous mode, the data rate is determined by an external clock while in synchronous mode the data rate is determined by the internal VCO clock and phase-accurate clock is generated. The device also includes multiple outputs such as a sync output and programmable CTL output.
