The PIC16F1829T-I/GZ is a small, low-cost 8-bit general-purpose microcontroller (MCU) with flash program memory that are capable of working in both commercial and industrial temperature range. It supports new features such as enhanced capture/compare/PWM, SCAN and 20-bit timer functions, a dual-operand fetch capability, and up to 20 MIPS processing power. The device also boasts a large number of peripherals, and the option of an internal RC oscillator or an external oscillator for the main clock source.

The PIC16F1829T-I/GZ is suited for a wide range of applications, particularly those that require low cost, low power operations. It is ideal for use in general-purpose applications such as LED lighting and control, power tool and small appliance controls, home automation systems, factory automation, and medical and scientific instrumentation.

The PIC16F1829T-I/GZ is built around an 8-bit data processor core. The core consists of 32 registers, a stack, an Arithmetic-Logic unit (ALU) and Program Counter. It operates at a maximum speed of 20 MIPS and features an onboard voltage regulator. It includes a parallel port, an I2C module, an Enhanced Capture/Compare/PWM module, a 10-bit analog-to-digital converter (ADC) module, and a Programmable Voltage Detector (PVD). The PIC16F1829T-I/GZ has its own on-chip RAM and flash memory. The RAM contains 8 Kilobytes of static RAM and 32 Kilobytes of flash memory. A dedicated shadow register set is used to store configuration and control bytes, or “programmed words”, in the RAM. This helps reduce the time needed to reprogram the device.
