PIC16LC773/SS, a type of embedded microcontroller, is a low-cost, low-Power, high-performance 8-bit CMOS Flash-based microcontroller. The PIC16LC773/SS microcontroller is mostly used in various embedded applications, such as industrial controllers, data logging, home automation, robotics, security systems, medical and automotive equipment, among other. This type of microcontroller has many advantages, such as its low-cost, low-power consumption, and ease of programming. Moreover, its 5-channel 12-bit A/D (analog-to-digital) Converter and 12 Programmable Counter/Timers ensure precise and accurate low-power operations.
The PIC16LC773/SS’s working principle is fairly straightforward. Its core architecture consists of a Harvard RISC processor with a wide range of features, such as an 8-bit program counter, 1 instruction fetch, 8-bit program storage, 8-bit RAM, 1 instruction execution, and 1 data manipulation. It are usually programmed with either the Assembly language or C programming language. The latter is preferred due to its increased performance and flexibility.
The chip is powered by the use of an external clock, which in turn can be synchronized to the CPU by means of a configurable prescaler. The configuration is typically done at the time of startup or reset and is written to the PIC16LC773/SS’s Program Configuration bit or (PB1/PCON). Once programmed, the chip can then be utilized in diverse applications and, depending on the chosen configuration, this chip can run at speeds up to 20MHz.
