PICOPIGL

PicoPIGL is a virtual instrument created for laser-based interferometric feedback for applications such as dynamic component characterization, optical tuning, closed-loop control, and motion control. This virtual instrument helps to accurately measure and control the motion of components in the presence of dynamic environmental disturbances. PicoPIGL uses a feedback algorithm that exploits the principles of dynamic phase compensation, pulse width modulation, and phase locking. The PicoPIGL feedback algorithm works differently compared to traditional techniques for dynamic component characterization and measurement.

PicoPIGL uses a feedback loop that allows it to use a laser\'s beam in order to measure and control the motion of components in a feedback loop. The feedback loop consists of an interferometer mounted on a rotating gimbal assembly. The interferometer acts as the basic sensor in the system, where it detects the movement of components in the environment, and then sends a signal to control the movement of the components by the laser. The feedback loop also includes a pulse-width modulation (PWM) servo motor, which uses the feedback signal from the interferometer to adjust the speed of the motor, and a phase lock loop (PLL) circuit, which adjusts the phase of the laser beam. This allows for extremely accurate and precise motion control.

In addition to its dynamic component characterization and motion control applications, PicoPIGL can also be used for optical tuning of lasers. By modulating the phase of the laser beam, PicoPIGL can be used to precisely adjust the angle of the beam in order to tune the output power of the laser. The system is also capable of providing feedback to adjust the motion of the components to optimize the operation of the laser, ensuring the highest power output.
