Introduction

PMEG10020ELRX is a single Rectifier Diode designed primarily to meet the needs of automotive and other high power applications where efficiency and space saving are a priority. This device provides low forward voltage drop and low reverse leakage current in a very low-profile high-temperature plastic-molded Electronic Component (EMC) package that offers excellent protection against the elements. The PMEG10020ELRX diode features a temperature range of -55°C to +105°C and is highly resistant to moisture and shock.

Application Field and Working Principle

The PMEG10020ELRX is typically used as a switch to rectify AC power in automotive and other high-power applications. It is also used for voltage clamping purposes and for voltage regulation in power systems including power supply design and DC-DC converter applications. As a single rectifier, the PMEG10020ELRX has two terminals called the anode and the cathode. The terminal carrying the horizontal line on the device symbol is the anode and the ultra-short circuit at the base is the cathode. The PMEG10020ELRX has a forward voltage drop of 0.7V and a reverse leakage current of 25÷200 μA at 1.2V. When the diode is in forward or an active state, current flows easily from the anode to cathode. When in reverse, or an inactive state, current cannot flow as the junction is reverse-biased and no current can flow. In order to protect against reverse-biasing and protect the device from high voltages, the PMEG10020ELRX is equipped with a reverse clamping protection diode known as an avalanche diode.
