Working Principle

The PT4475A is a circuit element. Its function is to regulate the power and voltage of the DC side so that the output power will remain constant regardless of the input power or voltage. This is achieved by periodic switching of the circuit\'s switches and inductors.

The circuit of the PT4475A consists of two MOSFETs (metal-oxide-semiconductor Field Effect Transistors), one inductor, and two capacitors. The MOSFETs are driven by a Control Unit specifically designed for the chip which enables the device to work in continuous conduction mode. During conduction, the current flows from the input source and through the inductor. When the MOSFET turns off, the current through the inductor is stored by the first capacitor, while the second capacitor is used for the output stage.

The Control Unit regulates the on/off time of the two MOSFETs based on the output voltage feedback as well as the over-voltage and over-temperature detection for safe operation. Furthermore, the Control Unit puts the MOSFETs in upper and lower state respectively to optimize the power efficiency.
