PT5801C Working Principle

The PT5801C works by combining a full-wave bridge rectifier circuit and a center-tapped step-down transformer. The greater input voltage is rectified by the bridge to produce the DC output, which is then fed into the center-tapped transformer. The step-down transformer takes a large input voltage and reduces it to a smaller, regulated output voltage. This regulated output voltage is then used to directly power the entire circuit or end load. The PT5801C includes thermal management features such as a copper heat sink, a thermal pad, and a built-in thermal fold control circuit which allow the converter to run cooler and more efficiently when operating with higher input voltages.

The PT5801C also includes a number of other features, such as over-current protection, current limit control, short circuit protection, unregulated AC line input, low EMI and harmonic distortion, and an optional remote on/off control.
