The PVI5033R is an optoisolator of the transistor, photovoltaic output type. It is a solid-state device composed of an infrared phototransistor detector itself and a plastic encapsulated light emiting diode (LED). The device ensures a very high input-output isolation voltage up to 4500 VDC, and a very low collector-emitter voltage drop (Vce) of 0.7 V and a very low trigger current of 0.5 mA.

This type of optoisolator is mainly used to isolate input and output signals in critical applications, like electrical insulation in motor controllers, power measurement in AC/DC power supply, low voltage disconnect/reconnect system, isolating on/off signals, and providing isolation in high voltage data acquisition systems.

The PVI5033R main operation principle is based on the transfer of a current signal from one circuit to another without any kind of electric contact between them, which makes it possible to eliminate the effects of ground loops, electromagnetic interference, and high voltage surges, and also ensures a safety signal transfer.

The optoisolator device is composed of a photo transistor that works as the input and a high-efficiency light emitting diode (LED) thats works as the output. When an input current signal is applied to the LED, it will generate a pulsed light output which is sent to the phototransistor that is able to detect the light pulses and generate an output current exactly following the input signal. By using these devices, it is possible to achieve reliable output isolation with up to 4500 VDC of insulation test voltage, and a very low collector-emitter drop of 0.7 V.

The PVI5033R optoisolator provides fast and efficient signal transfer for applications requiring isolation of two circuits, without any contact between them and with a very high isolation voltage. The device also ensures a very low trigger current of 0.5 mA and low collector-emitter drop of 0.7 V. In combination with its high insulation range of 4500 VDC, these features make it an ideal choice for isolating data and signals in critical applications.
