A TRIAC is a three-terminal electronic switching device, similar to the SCRs (Silicon Controlled Rectifiers), which controls the current flow in two directions by triggering action. The TRIAC acronym is derived from the combination of two words, which are “Triode ” and “AC”. The TRIAC is also sometimes referred to as a Bidirectional Thyristor or a three-quadrant switching device. TRIACs are widely used in AC voltage controllers, motor speed controllers, home dimming lights, industrial heating and lighting applications, etc.

Q6025R5TP application field and working principle

Q6025R5TP is a 25A, 800 V, standard gate, 4-pin, sensitive gate TRIAC, used for general purpose applications in the power electronics area. This TRIAC is designed for use in places where cost is an important factor to be considered. Q6025R5TP is widely applied in applications such as lighting control, motor & environmental control, temperature control, humidity control, home appliance control, controlling speed, closed loop & open loop power control.

The Q6025R5TP is a 4-pin device with a Gate, MT1, MT2 and an Anode lead. It is an AC switching device, which is used to switch the AC current in both directions. It is triggered by an AC or DC control signal applied to the Gate lead. The control signal may be either continuous or pulsed. When a positive control signal is applied to the Gate, the TRIAC is triggered into the conduction state. When the Gate voltage is removed, the TRIAC will be turned off after a short delay due to the Forward Recovery Time.

The trigger current and on-state voltage drop of the Q6025R5TP are extremely low, making it ideal for applications where power loss is critical. It has an on-state current rating of 25A and an off-state voltage rating of 800 V, making it suitable for a wide range of applications.
