The RAPID-NI-V2006 evaluation board is an embedded MCU, DSP board designed for software and hardware debugging. It contains an STMicroelectronics STM32F4 series ARM Cortex-M4 48-pin MCU, 96KB L2 cache, 32KB of SRAM, Xilinx XC7VX690T FPGA, and Altera MAX10 FPGA. This powerful board provides a variety of features which allows developers to easily become familiar with the capabilities of the STM32F4 series processor, and also to create custom hardware and software configurations in a safe and reliable environment.
The evaluation board has two main parts: the processor and the FPGA. The STM32F4 processor is the main workhorse of the board, and contains all of the features needed for a complete embedded system. It has two main operating modes, the normal mode and the debug mode. In normal mode, the processor can run user code in either the user or Supervisor/System privilege modes, and supports up to 1280 clock cycles per instruction. In debug mode, the JTAG debug port can be used to debug user code, as well as obtain preliminary timing information. It also supports data trace and external debugging with a USB cable.
The FPGA sits on a separate board and contains the logic for any I/O and other peripherals. It also contains a programmable logic block to configure the FPGA with any additional functions required. The FPGA is also used to control the external I/O of the board, and can be programmed to control the pins on the board. This allows the user to easily configure the I/O to meet their individual needs.
The RAPID-NI-V2006 is ideal for developing embedded applications that require complex I/O and on-board communication capabilities. The board contains several on-board interfaces, including an Ethernet port, USB port, CAN bus port, and SPI/I2C/UART. With these interfaces, the board is capable of communicating with a variety of external devices, and is ideal for connecting sensors, displays, actuators, or any other type of device that requires communication. Additionally, the board contains several I/O expansion headers which can be used to add additional I/O capabilities.
The RAPID-NI-V2006 evaluation board also includes a debugging environment, which allows the user to easily and quickly verify the behavior of code on the board. The board contains two LEDs, a programming header, and a debug header. The programming header is used to upload new code to the board, while the debug header is used to control the board’s on-board functions, such as setting breakpoints and stepping through instructions. Additionally, the board contains a JTAG port, which can be used to debug user code, as well as to connect the board to external debugging software such as GDB.
