TVS - Diodes are often seen as a surge protection device in a wide range of applications. The RBO08-40G is a new generation of TVS - Diode capable of offering outstanding surge protection performance. It is a surge protector that features enhanced ESD protection and an extended surge protection.
The RBO08-40G is designed to provide excellent surge protection performance in a variety of applications. It is capable of providing up to 40V maximum surge handling capability and operating up to 18A continuous forward current. The RBO08-40G is suitable for connecting to an AC power supply and utilizes an internal over-voltage protection circuit to protect against voltage transients. It also features an ESD protection level of up to 8kV.
The working principle of the RBO08-40G is based on the transistor action of a TVS (Transient Voltage Suppressor). When a transient over-voltage is applied, the transistor action of the TVS will switch efficiently and effectively divert the transient energy away from the connected load, limiting the voltage across the load to a safe level. During the switching process, the device is able to dissipate small amounts of power, helping it to protect delicate electronics during a voltage transient.
The RBO08-40G also utilizes a Thermal Protection Circuit which is designed to protect the device from thermal surges due to its continuous operation. The RBO08-40G also features reverse polarity protection to prevent damage to connected components in the event of improper connection. The RBO08-40G is RoHS compliant and features a low capacitance of 23pf.
The RBO08-40G is ideal for numerous applications and is suitable for use in most electrical devices including panel boards, electrical motors, SMPS and a plethora of other commercial or industrial applications.
